The Sony A7 IV supersedes the A7 III but it's not just another affordable all-rounder - it's a real powerhouse for both stills and video. The a7 IV is a robust, impressively well-made camera body with dust and moisture resistance, inbuilt SteadyShot and a sturdy 658g in weight, including SD card and battery. It's literally in a class of its own. It has all the upgrades that we've anticipated, minus the 4K60 in full-frame, but if you can overlook that, the Sony Alpha 7 IV is one hell of a solid camera for hybrid shooting. We can record XAVC S/XAVC HS/XAVC S-I (.mp4) video formats with Sony a7 IV with 4K resolution easily. XAVC HS is great for recording 4K videos that it can keep the high quality. The XAVC HS format uses the HEVC codec, which has high compression efficiency. This sony's new format it's not a friendly format for edting program, such as we can't free edit XAVC HS in DaVinci Resolve 17 smoothly.
If you are the user of Sony a7 IV, you will encounter the problem while importing the XAVC HS files to DaVinci Resolve 17 or its earlier versions of 16, 15, 14, you may see the error "DaVinci Resolve Not Rendering" coming up when exporting a movie composed of XAVC HS clips, whether it's to AVI, MKV, etc., this error comes up, in particular when the movie is "long", i.e. a half minute to a minute. Otherwise, with short clips there is no problem.
It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out. The Internet is full of discussions on this issue, but we don't know why Blackmagic Design can't fix it?
